Meet the Practitioner Panelists

Julia Price

Julia Price is a Sr. Instructional Designer at The Wendy's Company, where she enjoys creating eLearning solutions to support Wendy's restaurants and corporate office. Julia holds her BA in Elementary Education from Boston College and her Masters in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University. Three hashtags that describe Julia are #familyfirst, #dogmom, and #problemsolver. Her favorite Wendy's item is Chicken Tenders with a side of S'Awesome; you gotta try 'em!

Coley O'Brien

Coley O'Brien recently took over as Chief People Officer for The Wendy’s Company on March 1, 2018. He has over 10 years of experience with Wendy’s. The past 5 years he served as Vice President of Human Resources, providing HR leadership to the company’s North American operations. Prior to that role, Coley led the training function, supporting learning systems and development of customized learning solutions for approximately 250,000 crew members, managers and multi-unit operators in over 6,500 restaurants. Coley continues to serve as the chair for Wendy’s HR Forum, which facilitates the identification and sharing of HR best practices across the Wendy’s Franchise system. Coley holds a Masters Degree in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University. He resides in Powell, Ohio with his wife Jennifer and three children.

Erika Gilmore

Erika Gilmore helps unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world as Eli Lilly and Company’s Director of Global Learning & Development for Manufacturing & Quality. She holds PhD and Master’s degrees in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University Bloomington and has served as adjunct faculty for the department in the past. Prior to working in the pharmaceutical industry Erika held a variety of positions in automotive manufacturing focusing on quality, operations, and continuous improvement. A common thread throughout her career, regardless of industry or position, is an ever-present focus on improving performance!

Seth Martinez

Seth earned his PhD in Instructional Systems Technology in the Spring 2016, and his dissertation focused on servant leader development. He recently left Stanford University where he designed learning experiences within the Graduate School of Business. Seth now works at Adobe where he manages the training of all technical talent.

Kortney Davis

Kortney Davis is an Instructional Designer at HighPoint Global. She graduated with a Master’s in Instructional Systems Technology from IU Bloomington in 2015, and also has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She has worked on multiple government contracts, lead training initiatives for large scale call centers, and most recently has been traveling weekly to Washington DC to consult for a startup software company.

Simone Symonette

Simone Symonette is a Global Learning & Development Consultant at Eli 
Lilly and Company. She earned her PhD in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida, and Undergraduate degree in International Studies from Bethune-Cookman University. Her professional experiences 
include serving as an instructional strategist, performance consultant, instructional designer, program research consultant, associate instructor, and fundraising officer. Her research interests include human performance technology, specifically intervention set selection.
